With all these changes it's hard to say if the actual LN will advance like the WN. The events of volume 7 happen earlier in the WN, the events of volume 8 happened differently, and some other stuff like the characters age got changed (all the characters are 2 years older in the WN). The LN sixth volume expends on the little sister princess, Iris's arc more and she actually shows up again in volume 10 unlike the WN where Kazuma doesn't see her again. I also read, that the LNs differ from the original web novel series from the sixth volume. Really with Konosuba's world as a template it's easy to create another dark story like Re:Zero, the main difference between the two is that Re:Zero's story is told in a dark tone and actually treats it's dark elements seriously, Konosuba's is considerably lighthearted and lacking in any seriousness. For instance the LNs make it explicitly clear that the Konosuba world is a shitty place where the life expectancy isn't over 30 (or something like that), corruption runs rampant everywhere, and humanity is at the mercy of things far greater than them that can wipe out the majority of humans easily. The LNs still keep the lighthearted feel of the anime but a lot of darker details aren't glossed over.
